NEW VAT RULES FROM 1 JANUARY 2026
As of 1 January 2026, instruction in physical exercise as well as music and singing will be subject to VAT, following a series of rulings from the Court of Justice of the European Union that Denmark is obliged to comply with. Until now, group training and personal training have been exempted from VAT. These rules introduce a differentiated VAT system, meaning that members under the age of 30 will remain exempt from VAT, while members aged 30 and above will be subject to 25% VAT. These rules apply across the entire industry, including NRTHRN Strong.

The upcoming VAT change applies only to group training/classes. Open Gym has always been subject to VAT.
EXERCISE DEDUCTION – FROM AGE 30
The Danish government has proposed a new exercise tax deduction for adults aged 30+ who train in commercial settings such as spinning, CrossFit, yoga and similar activities — including those offered at NRTHRN Strong.
The deduction is meant to offset the higher prices that will follow when VAT is added to commercial training from 1 January 2026.

In practice, the deduction and the VAT increase will not always balance each other fully. The final effect depends on your membership price and personal tax situation.

From the first day of the month after you turn 30, VAT will be added to the group-training portion of your membership price.
No VAT-related price changes will apply before 1 January 2026 or before the month after your 30th birthday — whichever comes later.
All membership prices have been updated.
A new 8 Monthly membership option.
Student memberships are no longer offered.

Pay for 12 months upfront and get a 10% discount on any of our monthly memberships.
The annual option is available at our current prices until the updated 2026 pricing takes effect. The membership runs for 12 consecutive months and cannot be frozen or put on hold.
All memberships include a complimentary towel per visit, except for Classes and Warrior, which include two.
FAQ
Until December 31, 2025, our Classes membership included Sauna Gus. As of 1 January 2026, Sauna Gus is no longer included in Classes and is only available in our Warrior membership and bundles.
Yes. From 1 January 2026, we will update all memberships at NRTHRN Strong as part of our revised price structure.
No. Your membership will update automatically on the first day of the month after your 30th birthday. You will receive an email in advance of the change.
You will receive a personal email with your updated price at least 30 days before the change.
No. All memberships include 25% VAT from the month after you turn 30, regardless of whether they include group training.
Members aged 30 or older can register for the annual exercise deduction through the Danish Tax Agency (SKAT). We will provide guidance once the official instructions are published.
If you pay for someone else’s membership, we are required to send price-related information to the account payer.
Freezing your membership does not change whether VAT applies. If you are 30 years or older, 25% VAT applies from the month after your 30th birthday, even if your membership is frozen.
